Holiday Party Recap

Despite a difficult election cycle, the Franklin County Young Democrats are revved up and ready to take on 2015. At our annual holiday party, held on December 10th, 2014 at Dempsey’s Bar and Grill, we talked about 2014 in review and the FCYDems goals for 2015. All were in high spirits as they took their #BRINGIT speech bubble photos in support of the Columbus 2016 DNC Convention bid. Young Democrats and Republicans raise money for local non-profit through bipartisan volleyball tournament

On Sunday, September 14th, 2014 the Franklin County Young Democrats and Cap City Young Republicans held their second annual “Bump, Set, Vote” Volleyball Tournament. The organizations had a goal of showing that young people in the Greater Columbus community can come together and work in a bipartisan fashion for a good cause.

The event raised $1118.00 for a local non-profit, Operation Buckeye, that works to provide care packages to our troops. Between the two organizations there were 8 teams, including one non-partisan team, along with 8 court sponsors.

A very special thank you to all of the candidates and electeds who sponsored our Democratic teams and courts: Mike Schadek for County Auditor, Michael Stinziano for State Representative, Zach Klein for City Council, and Mayor Michael B. Coleman for Columbus.

FCYDems have strong presence at DNC Convention Bid Rally

The Democratic National Committee visited Columbus this past week to do a site visit for the 2016 National Convention. Columbus remains to be a strong contender in the running, and it’s bid was further strengthened after last week’s visit. The Franklin County Young Democrats came out in large numbers to volunteer for the event as well as attend the Welcome Rally in front of Nationwide arena. Check out some of these photos from the two day event. You will find many of our members present and riled up as we make the case for why the DNC should #bringit to Columbus.
