Thank you to all who attended our general meeting this past Tuesday. I want to extend a special thanks to Franklin County Democratic Party Chairman Bill Anthony for kicking-off the meeting and talking with us about the party, the progress the party has made on including young dems and his goals for the future.

At the meeting, the members in attendance voted to approve the screening committee’s report and unanimously endorsed the following candidates for the May 5th Primary:

Andrew Ginther for Mayor of Columbus
Ryan Jolley for Mayor of Gahanna (Current FCYDems member)
Shannon Hardin for Columbus City Council (Current FCYDems member)
Zach Klein for Columbus City Council (Current FCYDems member)
Michelle Mills for Columbus City Council
Jaiza Page for Columbus City Council (Current FCYDems member)
Michael Stinziano for Columbus City Council (Current FCYDems member)

The screening committee recommended these endorsements after evaluating the candidates and the questionnaires they completed. The committee looked at past FCYDems membership, support and the work the candidates have done/plan to do for young adults in Franklin County. We’re excited to support these candidates in their races. We’ll be sharing additional opportunities about our work for these campaigns in the coming weeks. For now, there are a few ways that you can help support our candidates:

St. Patrick’s Day!
You can help out Andrew Ginther and the Columbus City Council slate by marching in the City of Columbus/Shamrock Club St. Patrick’s Parade on Tuesday, March 17. If you are interested in marching with Andy or the council team please RSVP to me at president@fcydems.com.  You’ll get a T-shirt and surely some luck of the Irish!  The line-up starts at 10:30am at the corner of E Naghten St and N 5th St.  I hope to see you there!

Canvass for Ryan Jolley on March 21!
FCYDems and the Gahanna Progressives are partnering with the Ryan Jolley for Mayor Campaign to canvass on Ryan’s behalf on Saturday, March 21.  We will meet at 11:30 am to discuss talking points, distribute canvassing packets and maps and answer any questions about Ryan’s campaign.  The canvass will launch from Dunkin’ Donuts (1111 N. Hamilton Rd, Gahanna OH 43230).  After the canvass is done, we will all regroup for fun, food & drinks starting at 4:00 PM at Signature’s Millstone Tavern (94 Mill St, Gahanna OH 43230).  Are you planning to attend?  Please let me know by sending me an email at president@fcydems.com.  We’ll also be creating a Facebook event about this canvass in the coming days.

We’ll share additional volunteer and canvass activities for our endorsed candidates leading up to the May 5th Primary.  We’re also going to profile each of our endorsed candidates on our website and social media pages.
